Snake Eyes and the Bug Band

About Us

We specialize in our own brand of sound which we call "Bug Music".  The best way to describe it might be Cajun/Zydeco music filtered through southeastern Arkansas redneck sensibilities.  Bug music is perfect for couple dancing, and it's not unusual for band members to take individual breaks, even mid-song, to grab a partner from the crowd swing, twirl, and spin her for their own (and the crowd's) entertainment.

Who We Are

Singer/songwriter/accordionist Jamey Hall's intent is to make music with background percussive elements that match the sounds of an Arkansas bayou on a hot summer night, with the accordion leading the way.  Jamey, an experienced dance instructor, especially likes to start events with a Cajun Dance Lesson so everyone will enjoy the resurgent art of couple dancing.

Adding blues/bluegrass/country licks to the gumbo pot is well-known veteran guitarist Mike Rickard.  Mark McGee supplies the high-energy percussive sounds of the frotoir (the zydeco rubboard), the guiro, and the triangle, among others.  Anchoring it all are the rich and beautiful rhythmic tones of Robin Rues on the upright bass and Sid Simons, master drummer.  Ray Palmer, local luthier and fiddler extraordinaire, completes our hive.
